World Book Day

We joined in with thousands of other schools across the country to celebrate World Book Day on Thursday 7th March.

We started the day hosting a whole-school Learn with your child event. It was wonderful to see so many parents/grandparents/carers in school sharing a story and taking part in reading activities alongside their child.

The children wowed us with their fantastic costumes - everything from Harry Potter to Willy Wonka, Red Riding Hood to Maleficent.

Staff Performance
The staff came dressed as different coloured crayons from the book 'The Day the Crayons Quit' and performed the story to the children in morning assembly.

Reading in an unusual place competition

We ran a competition where the children had to picture themselves reading in an unusual position. The winners from each class are:

Reception: Ben reading outside in the light of the moon.

Year 1: Harrison reading in the cupboard under the stairs.

Year 2: Faye reading in the car boot.

Year 3: Evie reading on top of the village post box.

Year 4: Millie reading on top of a digger.

Year 5: Patsy reading in a recycling bin.
