Environmental Week 2019

Monday 20th May saw the start of Environmental Week in school.

In assembly on Monday morning we learnt about the effects of plastic on our environment and started thinking about ways in which we can help improve and care for our environment.

School Council have started investigating ways in which we can reduce our waste in school and are coming up with an action plan to include cutting back on the use of paper, everyone bringing in reusable drinks bottles and turning off lights when not in the room.

The whole school took part in litter picking both in the school grounds, the church yard, the park and surrounding streets. We collected loads of rubbish!

Classes have also been busy planting seeds and bulbs, making insect habitats, investigating what rubbish is thrown away and how we can recycle better plus creating some fabulous art work using rubbish collected.
Year 3 wrote stories inspired by the book 'What a Beautiful Meadow'. We also recycled cardboard boxes and egg boxes to make trees.
