Our School Vision

Bible Scripture

Luke 10: 27

Love the Lord your God with all your heart with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind; and love your neighbour as you love yourself.

Our core Christian values are at the core of everything we do.  They have been written in consultation with our local incumbent, staff, pupils and parents.  They are embedded in our curriculum and underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils as confident, happy citizens.

Our current value this Autumn 1 term is:-

Our Christian Value this half term is:

Spirituality

Spirituality: Windows, Mirrors, and Doors

At our school, we believe that spirituality is an important part of growing and learning. Spirituality is about exploring our inner selves, understanding our connection to the world, and finding meaning and purpose in our lives. We like to think of spirituality as windows, mirrors, and doors because these three ideas help us understand how we see the world, how we see ourselves, and how we open up to new experiences.

Windows:
Spirituality can be like looking out of a window. It helps us see the world from different perspectives and helps us connect to others, even if they are different from us. Just like a window lets us look outside, spirituality allows us to learn about different cultures, beliefs, and ways of thinking. It helps us appreciate the beauty in the world and understand the experiences of others.

Mirrors:
Spirituality is also like looking into a mirror. It helps us understand who we are, what we believe, and how we feel. Just like a mirror reflects our image, spirituality reflects our inner thoughts, feelings, and values. By looking into our own hearts and minds, we can grow in self-awareness, kindness, and empathy. This helps us make good choices and be the best versions of ourselves.

Doors:
Finally, spirituality can be like a door. It opens up new possibilities and experiences. When we explore our spirituality, we have the chance to open doors to new ideas, opportunities, and adventures. It helps us grow in understanding and discover new paths in life, full of hope, peace, and purpose.

In our school, we encourage all students to explore spirituality in their own way, with kindness and respect for others. Whether through quiet reflection, connecting with nature, or learning about different beliefs and traditions, we hope that spirituality will help our students grow and feel connected to the world around them.

Our values:

Children need values by which to live – true values against which to evaluate the world and its ways.  These values cannot be imposed, but should come from within, from the child’s inherent strength and as such must be nurtured.  As a Church School we recognise these as Christian values, as demonstrated in Jesus’ life.  However, research has also identified these values as those accepted and upheld throughout the world, by members of all faiths and none, as universal values which support happy, well-adjusted, socially integrated and morally responsible lives.

Our expectations are very high – and it is right that they should be – but what wonderful and worthwhile aims to uphold and work towards.  This is the vision of our whole school community – staff, parents, governors, church and children – working together to achieve.
